Familiar Look, Better Built

No matter which Prowler Proof Diamond design you prefer, you'll get one of the strongest security screens on the market. All designs have been put through the Australian Standards security test (AS 5039) and passed with ease. The 1,000 hour salt spray tests (AS 2331) are no match either. Even though they take place in an enclosed chamber at +35º C and almost 100% humidity with a solution saltier than sea water. You won't find a stronger diamond design security screen on the Australian market.

AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS TESTS A S 5039

All Prowler Proof Diamond designs have been through the same gruelling security tests – and passed them with ease. The Australian Standards test (AS 5039) takes a test sample through a series of 6 separate tests. All tests have to be passed in succession by the same test sample to get the stamp of approval. A severe challenge for any other security screen...but not for Prowler Proof. The test series starts with a 40 kg sand bag being smashed into the screen – check out the results below....

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Dynamic-Impact-Test.jpg

Dynamic Impact Test

The test: The dynamic impact test is designed to simulate an intruder trying to kick his way through a security door or window. The test is performed with a bag full of lead shot and sand, weighing more than 40 kg. The bag is smashed into the security screen with a force of 100 joules – beyond most burglars. The test is repeated 5 times.

The result: Passed. All four Prowler Proof Diamond designs easily pass the dynamic impact test. Have a look at the video to see just how easily a Prowler Proof Diamond security screen absorbs the impact.

Your benefit: Kicking your way through a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen is all but impossible. It handles the Australian Standards test for dynamic impact with ease – the test sample still looks brand new after the test.

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Jemmy-Test.jpg

Jemmy Test

The test: The jemmy test is designed to simulate an intruder using a lever to get past the security door or window. The test is performed with a large screwdriver at all locking, hinging and fixing points. The force applied is up to 450 N (45 kg) for 20 seconds – way beyond the capability of most potential intruders.

The result: Passed. The jemmy test is no match for the Prowler Proof Diamond design security doors – all locking and fixing points are secure after the test. The test couldn't even be performed on the Diamond design security windows – the dynamic impact test left no gap to insert the screwdriver!

Your benefit: It takes much more than a large screwdriver to get past a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen. Even with substantial force applied, the locking and fixing points just won't give way.

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Pull-Test.jpg

Pull Test

The test: Imagine an intruder trying to pull out your security screen…that’s what the pull test is all about. The security door or window must be able to withstand pulling forces of up to 2 kN (200 kg) for 20 seconds at various positions from various angles.

The result: Passed. It's virtually impossible to separate the mesh from the welded frame of a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen. 200 kg is a substantial force – still the screen looks unaffected upon completion of the test.

Your benefit: A potential intruder will need to pull substantially more than 200 kg at various positions for an extended period of time to have any hope of getting past a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen. Good luck with that.

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Probe-Test.jpg

Probe Test

The test: The probe test simulates an intruder having created a gap and trying to get his hand inside to unlock a door or a window. A deflecting force of 1.5 kN (150 kg) is applied to each opposite side of the opening to increase the space enough to get a hand through.

The result: Passed. The test simply can't be performed on any Prowler Proof Diamond design. The openings in the mesh are far smaller than the test requirement of a 213 mm diameter probe.

Your benefit: A Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen significantly restricts a would be intruder from gaining access to inside your home.

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Shear-Test.jpg

Shear Test

The test: Cutting pliers are popular tools among burglars. The shear test simulates a cutting plier attack on a security screen. The shearing tool applies increasing pressure until the sample chord breaks. The force required to break one chord must be at least 3 kN (300 kg).

The result: Passed. No matter which Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen you choose, it takes much more than 300 kg of force to break a chord with cutting pliers.

Your benefit: Even armed with cutting pliers a potential intruder will have to leave your home empty-handed. He won't be able to apply enough force to break a chord in the aluminium grille – much less all the chords needed to gain access.

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Knife-Shear-Test.jpg

Knife Shear Test

The test: The knife shear test simulates a knife attack on your security screen. A heavy duty trimming knife is dragged along a
250 mm line with a force of 150 N (15 kg) vertically and up to 350 N (35 kg) horizontally. The test is repeated 3 times – each time with a new blade – along the same line.

The result: Passed. This test can't be performed on a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen. The blades would be unable to move. The test is designed for stainless steel security screens...it goes without saying that Prowler Proof ForceField® passed easily.

Your benefit: A potential intruder would need to arm himself with much more than a knife or a heavy duty trimming knife with 3 fresh blades to shear his way past a Prowler Proof Diamond design security screen. The outcome is certain: the knife wouldn't survive.

Diamond Designs

Fitted with optional aluminium or stainless steel gauze, Diamond security screens are suitable for bushfire prone areas. With stainless steel gauze, the Diamond designs are approved up to the extreme Bushfire Attack Level 40 (BAL 40). Diamond designs with aluminium gauze are approved up to BAL 29. The Australian Standard for construction of homes in bushfire prone zones (AS 3959) simply states that openable windows must be screened with corrosion-resistant steel, bronze or aluminium mesh with an opening of less than 2 mm x 2 mm. You can rely on Prowler Proof Diamond designs – even in a bushfire.

Corrosion

There are two reasons why Prowler Proof is the most corrosion-resistant security screen on the market. The fact that it’s welded instead of being held together by screws or rivets means that there are no untreated or raw edges to increase the risk of corrosion. And as the only security screen manufactured in a fully automated factory, Prowler Proof is powder coated AFTER the assembly. This eliminates the risk of damage to the paint during assembly. Prowler Proof is the only brand that has passed the Australian Standards acetic salt spray test...and one of only 10 Qualicoat approved powder coating applicators in Australia.

Acetic Acid Salt Spray Test AS 2331.3.2

The test: The 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test is pure torture. Acetic acid salt spray is not only saltier than sea water, it's also 10,000 times more acidic. The test takes place in an enclosed chamber at a temperature of +35ºC with almost 100% humidity.

The result: Passed. Prowler Proof is the only brand on the Australian market to pass the acetic acid salt spray test.

Your benefit: If you live in a coastal area or near industrial areas, corrosion is your security screen’s worst enemy. Prowler Proof is your safe choice. No other brand of security screen has passed the 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test. No other brand is covered by a 10 year replacement warranty

Brisbane-Security-Screens-Installation-Prowler-Proof-Diamond-Neutral-Salt-Spray-Test.png

Neutral Salt Spray Test AS 2331.3.1

The test: All Prowler Proof products have been tested to the Australian Standard 2331 which requires the product to survive a 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test. This test is an accelerated corrosion process that takes place in an enclosed chamber. The spray is saltier than sea water and the temperature is maintained at +35º C with almost 100% humidity.

The result: Passed. Even though the test went beyond 1,000 hours – 1,069 hours to be exact – there was no visible corrosion on the Prowler Proof product.

Your benefit: Thanks to the way they are built, Prowler Proof security screens are the most corrosion-resistant on the market. Even with very little maintenance they will remain corrosion-free. Cleaning every six months – every three months in coastal or industrial regions – is all it takes. Security screens that are held together by screws or rivets can require cleaning as often as every 2-4 weeks in coastal regions.

Insect protection

All Prowler Proof Diamond design security screens come with a high quality fibreglass insect screen. But you can take it even further. Aluminium or stainless steel insect screens offer extra strength as well as protection from bushfire. With 18 x 30 strands per inch, a micro fibreglass insect screen will keep out even the smallest insects. And our pet safe polyester mesh is an economical solution if your pet likes to test the strength of the mesh with its claws. With Prowler Proof you can choose your own level of protection.

Fall Prevention

The National Construction Code (NCC) (BCA 2013) requires that window openings be either restricted or screened, in certain circumstances, to prevent children falling.  Screens that resist an outward horizontal action of 250 N meet the code and mean that window restrictors, that prevent the window being open more than 125mm, can be removed.  Screens that have been tested and passed AS5039/5040 are deemed to comply with NCC requirements. Barrier screens must either be type tested in a NATA certified testing facility, or tested onsite by the installer.
