Nestled into the side of a hill in Brookfield, Queensland, is a Japanese influenced, minimalist home, complete with its own running stream and duck pond. Surrounded by bush, the home features an indoor/outdoor pool and vibrant internal colour palette, all within a moody dark exterior shell.
The owners requested the home be screened to reduce the number of insects caused by the surrounding trees, bush and pond, and also to help minimise the risk of bushfire. They wanted to ensure the product selected did not block any light as the home only has around 10 metres of windows along two sides.
Because the home is isolated from neighbouring properties, and the living spaces are separated within the home, the owners also wanted to ensure security for residents, no matter where they are inside.
The architecturally designed home focusses on open views and large expanses of glass. The owners didn't want the security screen product to impede their views, and were against any midrails.
With the help of Stephen Chalmers from CSI: Chalmers Security Installations, Prowler Proof ForceField® welded stainless steel security was selected throughout the house on all external windows and doors. ForceField® has been tested to AS 5039 and AS 5040, ensuring the highest level of security for residents.
ForceField®'s marine grade stainless steel infill has a 42.5 percent open area, allowing airflow and providing low maintenance for the owners. The stainless steel mesh also provides protection from insects. All products selected are covered by Prowler Proof's 10 year full replacement warranty, ensuring the home owners' ongoing peace of mind.
ForceField® is also rated to BAL-FZ, covering the bushfire protection requirements of the home.
All sliding security doors were fitted with Prowler Proof's concealed fix interlocks and receivers. These provided the homeowner with high security as all fasteners are fitted within a recessed, tamper resistant channel, and then hidden with a cover strip - providing a smooth clean aesthetic finish to complement the rest of the home.
The installation was awarded the Best Installation - Residential at the 2019 National Security Screen Association Design Awards.

2019 Best Residential Installation Award: A Unique Architectural Achievement
We’re especially proud of the 2019 NSSA Best Residential Installation Award, which celebrated our work on a breathtaking home in Brookfield, Queensland. This minimalist, Japanese-inspired home—complete with a running stream, indoor/outdoor pool, and vibrant internal design—required a security solution as elegant as its architecture.
Working closely with the homeowners, we chose Prowler Proof’s ForceField® welded stainless steel security for its sleek design, minimal impact on the home's stunning views, and robust protection. The marine-grade stainless steel mesh allowed for airflow, light, and full insect protection, all while meeting the home’s bushfire safety needs. Our team took special care to ensure the screens complemented the home’s design, with concealed fix interlocks and receivers providing both a high level of security and a clean, tamper-resistant finish.
This installation, which seamlessly blended security with architectural beauty, was an honour for us to deliver, and we are so proud to have it recognised with the NSSA’s Best Residential Installation Award.
2024 Best Residential Installation Award: Redefining Queenslander Living
In 2024, we were again honoured with the Best Residential Installation Award for our work on a renovated Queenslander. The project focused on creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience, a hallmark of Queenslander homes, while maintaining the highest level of security. We worked hand-in-hand with the homeowners and builders to develop an innovative pocket door system, allowing the ForceField® screens to disappear into the walls when open. This custom solution offered the perfect balance of style, security, and functionality—a true testament to the passion and expertise our team brings to every installation.

We have been a member of the NSSA for a few years now. My view is that it is essential for any serious business in our industry to be a member. We were very proud to receive the NSSA Design Award for Best Residential Installation at AusFenEx19. This was always going to be a job that turned heads. Huge ForceField® doors that were the biggest Prowler Proof had made without mid rails, which, in my opinion, is what won this award. The award night itself was fantastic! Great experience to meet and network with people in our industry - it's always good to put a face to a name or a voice on the phone. I hope we get the chance to do it all again next year.
